The Keyport Business Alliance, which manages the town's business improvement district, is driven to prove that Keyport is 'The Pearl of the Bayshore."

Keyport is a flourishing Bayshore community with prospering downtown appeal offering charming and historic homes, some overlooking Raritan Bay.

One visible sign of Keyport’s renaissance can be seen in West Front Street's once-vacant stores that now house antiques mini malls and boutiques whose owners relocated from high rents in Red Bank.

Reflecting intense local pride, Keyport has seven all-volunteer fire companies and eleven churches.

From the 1870s to the 1920s, packet boats shipped Monmouth-manufactured goods, produce, and marl-a natural fertilizer-to markets in New York City, and brought back thousands of summer visitors to "The Bayshore."

Population dropped slightly to 7,500 in 2001, in 3,265 households whose median income was $48,500, up from $31,600 in 1990. The Keyport Central School had an 18% drop in enrollment, to 629, in 2001. Keyport High's enrollment jumped 22%, to 525 students, in 2001.
