History of NMCC

Initiated as the Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce in 1959, the Chamber was created to help local business owners network and promote their businesses to the Middletown Township area.

At that time:
a gallon of milk was $1.01
a loaf of bread was $0.20
a dozen eggs were $0.89
a postage stamp was $0.04
a gallon of gas $0.25
a new car was $2,250
a new home was $30,000
the average income was $5,016
Minimum wage was $1

A lot has changed since then!

Regionalized into the Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, we currently serve 11 towns within our region and serve over 350 member businesses. 2004 marked our 45th Anniversary and we keep growing every year!
